Merry Carol Schmidt Beck, 54, passed away on December 27, 2013 in Beeville, Texas. She was born on October 4, 1959, in Karnes City to Monroe and Elline Fenner Schmidt. She will be dearly missed.

She married Robert Beck on August 25, 1979, in Kenedy, Texas. They spent most of their lives living in Beeville. Merry began working in the Bee County tax office shortly before she married and was soon promoted to Chief Deputy Tax Collector. Merry was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s club, Mother’s Club, Junior Service League, Rosetta, Women’s Investment Network club, and spent much of her time volunteering for various causes throughout her community. She also spent time sharing her passion for literature by reading to children at FMC Elementary, which brought her the most joy of all. Merry was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Beeville. She devoted her life to loving her Lord and her family and always shared a smile with everyone she met.

Merry was preceded in death by her father, Monroe Schmidt, and brother, Carey Schmidt.

Merry is survived by her beloved husband, best friend and confidant of 34 years, Robert Beck; children, Keleigh Beck-Mertens and husband Russell of Houston, Tres Beck and wife Toni of Beeville; grandchildren, Piper Beck, Coki Beck, Jackson Mertens; mother, Elline Fenner of Kenedy; brother, Terry Schmidt of Kenedy, sisters, Cherry Pargmann of Pettus and Laurey Wishert of Kenedy; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
