Wayman Adolph Dial, 83, of Bay City, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014.

Mr. Dial was born Dec. 31, 1931, in Beeville to J.W. Dial and Aileen Fetters Dial. He served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. He also served as chief of police in San Marcos.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Marilyn Dial; a daughter, Tana (Robert) Villasana of Sabinal; sons, Alan (Lisa) Dial of Corpus Christi and Gary Dial of Tuleta; step-daughters, Drenda (Clay) Williams of Bay City, Jeri Lyn (Dale) Sump of Austin and Amanda (Diamond Watson) Jackson of Lake Jackson; sisters, Margie Rowley of Needville and Ethel McConnell of Beeville; a brother, Jackie (Shirley) Dial of Beeville; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at St. Peter Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jared Stillions officiating.
