Mrs. Montez was born April 20, 1920, in Gonzales to Marcelo Barrientez and Anita Lerma Barrientez.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Antonio Montez; a son, Antonio “Pecas” Montez; grandson, John David Montez; two sisters, Pilar Silvas and Octaviana Salinas; and two brothers, Marcelo Barrientez Jr. and David Barrientez.
Survivors include two sons, Joe (Josie) Montez of Mathis and Ruben (Teresa) Montez of Beeville; a daughter, Angie (Eric) Hill of Woodstock, Ga.; three sisters, Felicita Gonzales and Olivia Rodriguez, both of Beeville, and Josie Rodriguez of Berclair; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Friday, Feb. 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home. Visitation continued at 5 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, and a rosary was recited at 7 o’clock that evening.
The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at the church with Father Luke officiating. Burial followed at Our Lady of Victory #2.
Pallbearers were T.J. Gomez, Jimmy Montez, David Barrientes, Alfred Salinas, Celso Garcia and Alfredo “Freddy” Salinas.
