Top students from A.C. Jones High School will be attending the Business Professionals of America 2014 State Leadership Conference, in Houston March 5-8.

A.C. Jones chapter members Claryssa Luera, Teresa Cano, Clarissa Ibarra, Ryan Gonzales, Esmeralda Hurtado and Sarah Draper will join more than 2,500 other conference delegates from across the state to participate in state level business skill competitions, general sessions and the state officer candidate campaigns and elections.

Students from the Texas Association’s Regional Leadership Conference have qualified to participate at the state level conference. The conference emphasizes business workforce education and training which members of the local chapter of Business Professionals of America at A.C. Jones have received. Students will be actively involved in competitive events for: Human Resource Management, Fundamental Word Processing Skills, Keyboard Production, Advanced Interview Skills, Database Management, Presentation Management and Administrative Support (Team).

Students will not only be attending and participating at the state conference; they will also be directly involved in the running of the conference as they complete internships in key positions that ensure all planned functions of the conference are conducted to the highest standards possible.

Business Professionals of America is a national organization for middle school, high school and college students preparing for careers in business and office occupations. The organization’s activities and programs complement classroom instruction by giving students practical experience through application of the skills learned at school.
