Police Chief Joe Treviño said Yolanda Mendez was taken into custody at 5:11 p.m. that day after she propositioned an undercover officer.
The chief said she allegedly offered sex in return for drugs.
The charge is a Class B misdemeanor. If the defendant is convicted, she can be fined $2,000 and confined in the Bee County Jail for up to 180 days.
Treviño said the arrest was made in the 900 block of East Houston Street with Assistant Chief Richard Cantu in charge of the operation. The woman was then taken to Municipal Judge Joe Salinas, who set her bond at $2,000.
The chief said the arrest was made as part of an ongoing operation to investigate all types of crime.
The operation is an “effort to make Beeville a safer environment.” Treviño said.
