Thomas “Gene” Ray died Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014.

Mr. Ray was born in Bertram on Jan. 5, 1950, to Margaret (Edwards) and David Ray and was a graduate of Bertram High School. He served on the Austin City Police force for many years, was a Medicaid investigator for the state of Texas, and then moved to Corpus Christi to work as a superintendent for a general contractor. While there, he met his wife, Linda (Lindsay), and they married in September 1983.

He enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing 42, crossword puzzles, traveling and his lawn.

Survivors include his wife, Lindsay Ray of Beeville; a sister, Margaret Scott; sons, Tod Ray, Rick Ray and Lance Ray; and his step-daughters, Andrea Roth of Austin and Brighitta Flores of Corpus Christi.

A memorial service was held Saturday, April 26, at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christi), located at 715 N. St. Mary’s Street in Beeville.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fine Arts Education Program of First Christian Church, Beeville.
