The Rialto Theater will present the professional vocal chamber ensemble, EVOK, on Friday, May 30, at 7:30 p.m.

The concert will be performed in the building in downtown Beeville, 118 N. Washington St., which is next door to the Rialto Theater. Tickets for the concert are $30 per person and may be purchased at Hogue’s Jewelry, Wicker Basket and Libby Spires Accounting office. Tickets may also be purchased from any member of the Rialto executive board (Louise Hall, Libby Spires, Julie Vrana, Rita San McGuil, Tammy Alaniz, Sally Friedlander, Robert Beck, Mark Parsons and James Lee).

In the fall of 2012, a new and unique chamber choir was formed in the Northeast Houston/Lake Houston area of the Houston Metropolitan area. In residence at Lone Star College-Kingwood, the choir was intentionally designed by its founder, Dr. Todd Miller, to be eclectic in nature–both in terms of choristers and repertoire.

After going nameless for the first year of its existence, the choir recently settled on the name EVOK—the Eclectic Voices of Kingwood.

During the last week of May, the choir will embark on a South Texas Historic Theater Tour. Before coming to Beeville, the choir will perform in the Imperial Performing Arts Theatre in Rosenberg.

EVOK’s repertoire includes songs by Modern 20th century composers, English and Italian Madrigals, sacred songs and American popular classics.
