Hospital volunteers announce 2009 fall scholarship winners

The Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville Volunteers are proud to announce the winners of the fall 2009 scholarships given by the organization.

Three $1,000 scholarships were awarded based upon scholarship applications submitted, interviews and need. All applicants must be accepted by an institution of higher learning and accepted into the Nursing or Radiology Program. The Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville Volunteers offer the scholarships to assist local students in aspiring to their career goals in the medical field.

Scholarship winners for the Fall 2009 semester and the schools and programs they will attend: Patrice Lashe Washington, Radiologic Technology Program CBC in Beeville; Kristen Gorzell, Coastal Bend’s Nursing Program in Beeville; Shirley DeForest - Vocational Nursing Program CBC in Beeville.

The volunteers are proud of each of these students and wish them success. They are also proud to offer these scholarships in the spring and the fall as funds become available. The Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville Volunteers man the gift shop/snack bar at Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville, as well as volunteering in other specialized areas of the hospital. Earnings from the shop, along with special fund-raisers, create money for donations to the hospital and the scholarship program.
