St. Mary’s Academy Charter School in Beeville will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday to celebrate the grand opening of its newly-built Founder’s Hall.

The invitation-only ceremony will be held from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Tammye Treviño, administrator for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Housing and Community Facilities Rural Program, is scheduled to speak at the grand opening ceremony.

The USDA provided a loan to the charter school to help build the Founder’s Hall. Officials with Self Help, a nonprofit group which also helped St. Mary’s raise money for the construction project, also are expected to attend the ceremony.

St. Mary’s school officials also will announce that the academy has been named a Blue Ribbon school district. Only 26 school districts in the state and 500 nationwide receive the honor annually.

St. Mary’s has also been named an exemplary school district by the Texas Education Agency.
