The Bee County Adult Literacy Council will conduct a tutor volunteer training workshop for potential tutors Saturday, Oct. 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Coastal Bend College Lott-Canada Facility.

The tutors discover how to prepare their material, build rapport with the student they tutor and learn about problems they might encounter.

The trainer, Donna Hernandez of Mathis, will train volunteers to help adults learn to read.

Persons who would like more information about the Bee County Adult Literacy Council, either as a student or volunteer, are urged to call Dolores Perez at 354-5335. An answering machine is available for messages when the office is closed. The BCALC is located at the Coastal Bend College Lott-Canada Facility at 902 W. Corpus Christi St.

If you are interested in attending the workshop, call Dolores Perez at 354-5335 by Oct. 5.
