On Dec. 5, six band students competed against other 4A and 5A bands in the Trojans’ region at Alice High School. Three of them qualified for two of the three region bands.

A.J. Arredondo placed 2nd chair in concert band (3rd band). Taylor Knowlton placed 9th in concert band, and Ismael Garza placed 5th in Honor band (1st band). They performed in their bands on Dec. 12 at Gregory-Portland High School.

Ismael has qualified to area competition in January. He will be competing with other 4A percussionists for a final shot for the 4A state band.

“The band is extremely proud of the six students who competed in Alice and even more so with the three region band members. They exhibit the pride and education at A.C. Jones,” said Jaime Vela, head director of the Mighty Trojan Band.
