Project Graduation has become a much-anticipated highlight in students’ lives and is recognized nationwide for helping save lives. The goal of this event is to provide an exciting, fast-paced, all-night party that is free of alcohol and drugs, where students can celebrate their achievements in a truly safe environment, she said.
Project Graduation for A.C. Jones High School seniors will be held on May 28, the night of graduation. The entire evening is free of charge to reward seniors for a job well done and to encourage maximum participation, Castillo said. Costs are covered by tax-deductible donations from parents and businesses in our community and by a variety of fundraising activities.
“Seniors enjoy a wide variety of activities and great food, and participate in drawings for terrific prizes and scholarships,” she said.
“An assortment of games and activities are planned for the seniors which include, a bungee run, a dunking booth with faculty members, a Velcro wall, casino night, newly released movies, tug of war, an X-Box Playoff for the guys, a spa center for the girls, flag football, 3 vs. 3 volleyball tournaments, swimming, door prizes, and an assortment of food and refreshments, which include a meal sponsored by Go Texan, a chocolate fountain with fruit, a sundae bar, breakfast tacos and pastries.”
The community’s generous support will help make Project Gradation 2010 a great success, Castillo added. Gifts of any amount are appreciated and are recognized appropriately in the press. In addition, gifts of $250 or more qualify the donor as a “Project Graduation Major Sponsor,” with recognition in the event program, at the event, in the press and other related publicity, she said. “Our students truly appreciate the support given for this worthwhile and important event.”
