Pettus students bring home awards from UIL competition

Pettus Elementary School participated in UIL competition along with Falls City, Charlotte and Yorktown in December 2009. “We are very proud to announce the following winners,” said school officials.

They are:

Second grade — Julien Seidner, third place storytelling and fifth place creative writing; and Dexter Staples, sixth place storytelling.

Third grade — Mallory Cantu, second place ready writing; Colby Bounds, fourth place storytelling; Karyna Leal, third place spelling; and Andrea Gauna, fifth place spelling.

Fourth grade — Marisol Ramirez, fifth place number sense, sixth place ready writing and fourth place Art Smart; Alyssa Abrigo, third place spelling; Kiera Metz, fourth place spelling; Makayla Grayson, fifth place Art Smart; Caroline Garza, fourth place number sense; Jessica Fuentes, sixth place number sense; and Alyssa Abrigo, Makayla Grayson and Marisol Ramirez placed second as a team for Art Smart.

Fifth grade — Jesse Gutierrez, second place ready writing and fifth place spelling; Tierra Moore, third place ready writing; Leigha Trevino, fifth place ready writing and sixth place Art Smart; Josh Davis, fifth place oral reading; Jesus Martinez, sixth place listening skills; Jayce Constante, second place social studies; Jacob Fernandez, second place number sense; and Steven Morgan, Tierra Moore and Leigha Trevino placed second as a team for Art Smart.
