BISD sets board election for May 8

Voters who live within Beeville ISD will have an opportunity in May to elect two trustees.

The school board set a May 8 date for the school board election.

Seats up for election are subdistrict’s I and II, presently represented by John Fish and Viola Salazar. respectively.

The first day to apply for a place on the ballot was Feb. 6 and the deadline for filing is March 8.

Early voting by personal appearance will take place between April 26 and May 4.

Subdistrict I includes voting precincts 1, 3, 8, 16 and 18. Subdistrict II includes voting precincts 6, 9, 10, 13, 17 and 19.

Candidates will draw for placement on the ballot on March 16.

Polling location on election day for subdistrict 1 is the lecture hall at A.C. Jones High School. Polling location for subdistrict II is the library at Moreno Middle School.

Polling locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The polling place for early voting for subdistrict I will be the reception area of the Beeville ISD administration building, 2400 N. Adams St.

The polling place for early voting for subdistrict II will be the Moreno Middle School library.

School trustees also voted to hire the superintendent search firm of Bob Griggs & Associates. The firm helped BISD find and recruit Dr. John Hardwick Jr., who has announced he plans to resign at the end of the school year.

Trustees who have worked with the company in the past said they were pleased with the job done by the Griggs firm.

In other action, the board voted to renew two-year administrator contracts with Mary C. Clendennen, Terry Greenup, Belinda Aguirre, Veronica Alaniz, Nancy Jones, Troy Moses, Alcario Alvarado, Deborah Del Bosque, Linda O’Connell, Joni Barber, Paul H. Looney, Erasmo Rodriguez, Jean Blankenship, Annette Sanchez, Sarah Jaure, Patrick Seals, Jaime Rodriguez and Martina Villarreal.
