All students registering for the first time in the BISD must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (with guardianship papers) and present a certified copy of birth certificate, current immunization record, Social Security card and proof of residence at time of registration.
Pre-kindergarten (4 year old)
To be eligible for pre-kindergarten (full-day program), children must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1. This program is located at Hampton-Moreno-Dugat Early Childhood Center, 2000 S. Mussett St. Students may be registered by their parent or guardian from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 4 and 5. Special admission procedures for these children involve proof of family income, English language ability or military dependent.
To be eligible for kindergarten, children must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1. Students may be registered by their parent or guardian from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from April 26 through 30 at Hampton-Moreno-Dugat Early Childhood, 2000 S. Mussett St.
Children must be 6 years old on or before Sept. 1 to be eligible for enrollment in the first grade. If a child is now attending BISD kindergarten, enrollment cards will be sent home to parents on Friday, April 23. Parents or guardians must take the enrollment card to the school of their choice to register their child for the first grade during the week of April 26-30. All students, whether enrolled at Hampton-Moreno-Dugat Early Childhood or another school in Beeville, who wish to enroll in first grade at a BISD campus will enroll during the week of April 26-30. First grade registration begins at 8 a.m. on Monday, April 26, and runs through Friday, April 30. No registrations will be accepted before that time. Schools which will house first grade next year are R.A. Hall, FMC and Thomas Jefferson Elementary. First grade enrollments at the school of choice will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis as long as space is available. If a student has attended a private kindergarten or has never attended school, parents or guardians must go to the school of their choice to register the child.
Elementary grades 2-5
Enrollment cards will be sent home with the fifth six weeks report cards on Friday, April 23, to all BISD students now enrolled in grades 1-4. The enrollment card should be sent back to school with the child by Friday, April 30. Students who are not currently enrolled at TJES, R.A. Hall or FMC and wish to register for grades 2 through 5 in one of those schools may do so during the week of April 26-30 at the campus of their choice.
Requests for transfers from one elementary school to another must be made at this time. Parents will be sent a letter with the fifth six weeks report cards on Friday, April 23, explaining the complete enrollment process with enrollment cards. Parents should note that if a request is being made to transfer a child from one elementary school to another elementary school, a Transfer Request Card must be picked up from and returned to the principal’s office of the child’s current campus. No returned transfer request card will be accepted before 8 a.m. Monday, April 26.
Fifth-grade students who will be entering middle school will meet with Moreno Middle School counselors for scheduling.
