Superintendent Dr. Brett Belmarez said that trustees have been discussing the designs and cost of the new building and he expects a decision, possibly by their May 10 board meeting.
“We approved plans and are going forward,” he said. “We just haven’t approved the final proposal.”
The 20-year-old existing building at Bobcat Stadium, he said, is on the visitors side of the field, something they intend to correct.
“A couple of years back we switched home and visitors side when our new bleachers were built,” he said. “Our booster club will find this a much better location.”
Trustees, during their Monday meeting, continued their discussion of the design and cost but didn’t make the final decisions.
“We approved plans and are going forward. We just haven’t approved the final proposal,” Belmarez said. “This may wait till next month.”
Cost of the new, 1,500-square-foot building will be between $75,000 and $90,000.
Funding for the building will come from state money owed to the district that was just recently received.
“The state had underpaid us for the prior year so they settled up with us,” Belmarez said. “They sent us some money we weren’t planning.”
During their Monday board meeting, trustees also discussed between 2 and 4 percent raises for district employees.
“It is not exorbitant but it is an increase,” Belmarez said. “Next month administration will make a recommendation.”
