Beeville Independent School District trustees announced Wednesday morning that Dr. Linda Sue Thomas is their lone candidate to replace Dr. John Hardwick Jr. as superintendent.

Thomas, an educator with 35 years of experience, has worked as superintendent of Aransas Pass ISD since 2007.

She has worked in that district since 1996 when she started as principal of A.C. Blunt Middle School.

She received her doctorate in educational leadership from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and Texas A&M University-Kingsville in 1995. She received her master of arts in curriculum and reading from Texas A&M in Kingsville in 1981 and a bachelor of arts in English and French from that same school in 1972.

Thomas said that she hopes to start work immediately following the 21 days that the school board must wait after today’s announcement.

Thomas is the sister of David Morgan, emergency management coordinator for Bee County.
