Albert Reyes, formerly of Corpus Christi, graduated with a PhD in global leadership from Andrews University last month.

In January, he was elected as the sixth president in the 131-year history of Buckner International in Dallas. Buckner International is a global Christian ministry that seeks justice by providing care and resources for orphans and at-risk children in the United States and around the world.

As president, Reyes oversees daily operation of Buckner International, providing services to vulnerable children, orphans, families and elders across Texas, the United States and in 17 countries. He will manage the organization’s nearly $100 million annual budget and the organization’s 1,300 employees worldwide through Buckner Children and Family Services’ domestic and international operations and also Buckner Retirement Services’ seven senior living communities in Texas.

Reyes, a native of Corpus Christi, holds a bachelor of business administration degree from Angelo State University and master of divinity and doctor of ministry degrees from Southwestern Seminary.

Reyes is the son-in-law of the late Rev. Baldemar Alvarado and Mrs. Elia O. Alvarado of Beeville.

Albert, his wife, Belinda Alvarado, formerly of Beeville, and their three sons, Joshua, David and Thomas, live in Dallas.
