Abelicia Arrisola has announced her retirement after a successful 40 years in education.

After graduating from Pettus High School, Abelicia moved to San Antonio, earning an associate’s degree from San Antonio College. She then moved to San Marcos, where she earned a bachelor’s degree from Southwest Texas State University.

Following graduation, Abelicia returned to Pettus High School to teach for a short time before moving to California. While continuing her teaching and coaching career in Santa Maria, Calif., Abelicia earned her master’s degree in counseling and guidance, as well as her LPC license from California Polytechnic State University.

In 1980, Abelicia returned to Texas, where she continued to have a successful career as an elementary counselor. She spent 10 years working for Victoria ISD and 20 years working for Northside ISD in San Antonio, which is the largest recognized and fastest growing district in the state.

.Abelicia is the daughter of Felipa Arrisola of Mineral and the late Dionicio Arrisola.
