This month’s Market and Main will be a patriotic back-to-school celebration. The event will begin with the vendor booths opening at 9 a.m. Saturday.

The flag presentation will begin at 9:30 by the City of Beeville’s Police Honor Guard, and Janet Amador will sing the national anthem. A newly erected flagpole has been placed at the Depot Pavilion, and this will be the first time the flag will be flown in honor of our servicemen on women fighting overseas.

After the flag presentation, the “Hotter Than Hell Salsa Contest” will begin. The prize for this contest will be $150. There is still time to sign up; interested parties may call 362-0368 to sign up now or sign up the day of for the Watermelon Eating and Seed Spitting Contest. The prize winners will walk away with a $50 gift certificate. There will be a contest for adults and children.

Parents can bring the family out to enjoy the festivities and slide on the giant water slide for children and adults or let the kids jump in our Sponge Bob and Spiderman moon jumps while enjoying some fun in the sun. The cost of tickets is $5 per person to play from 9 to 2 p.m. Other games will also be available for 10 cents per play.

All are invited to come out and join the fun, food, and great shopping at this month’s Market and Main.
