Charles George Reynolds Jr. of Orange Grove died Friday, Aug. 13, 2010.

Mr. Reynolds was born on July 22, 1926, in Premont to Charles G. and Myrtle McBryde Reynolds. He was in the U.S. Army with the 98th Infantry Division in during WWII. Tech. Sgt. Reynolds married Pvt. Sharry M. Kelly at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in San Francisco on Aug. 8, 1946. He was a Past Master of Beeville Masonic Lodge No. 261, a member of Corpus Christi Commandery No. 57 of Knights Templar of Texas No. 320 and a member of VFW Post 8920 in Orange Grove. He owned Reynolds Plumbing and Sales Co. of Beeville for more than 40 years and retired to the family ranch at Orange Grove at 69 years of age. He was president of the Beeville Rotary Club and served on the Vestry at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church. He helped found St. Michael’s Episcopal Church at Lagarto. He served as Municipal Court Judge of Orange Grove for several years.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Hugh Kelly and Charles R. Howard; and a daughter, Kelly Maureen Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Sharry; his children, Theresa Reynolds of Sumas, Wash., Morna (Lee) Erwin of Knoxville, Tenn. and Robyn Reynolds of Alice; his son-in-law, George F. Smith of San Antonio; six grandchildren, Katherine Turner of San Antonio, Lara Davis of Maryland, Megan Smith and Garrett Smith of Austin, Michael Vaughn of Austin and Mercedes Vaughn of San Marcos; and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Dobie Funeral Home in Mathis, with the Beeville Masonic Lodge No. 261 in charge.

Interment was at the Reynolds Family Cemetery at Palo Ventana Ranch in Orange Grove.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the USO or the World War II Museum in New Orleans, La.

Arrangements were under the direction of Dobie Funeral Home, Mathis.
