Lloyd Dwaine Hutchins, 58, of Linden, Iowa, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010, at the Polk City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Hutchins was born Feb. 4, 1952, in Winterset, Iowa, to Lloyd Edwin and Joy Louise Hutchins. In 1971, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed at the Philippines, Japan, Agana Guam with the VQ1 Recon Squadron and also in Beeville before being honorably discharged in 1977.

He married Peggy Joyce Herring in Dexter, Iowa, on May 28, 1972. He attended Bee County College, was a self-employed mechanic in Linden, Iowa, and had his own band for many years. He enjoyed playing and listening to classic country, bluegrass and rockabilly music and played rhythm guitar for the Southwest Texas Fiddlers Association. He played the rhythm guitar, bass, lead guitar, mandolin, banjo and piano. He was a member of the NRA, MARS, Dexter American Legion and the Church of Christ. He also enjoyed electronics, MARS-radio, hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joy, and his sister, Tina, in 2010.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Hutchins of Linden, Iowa; his children, Jason Dwaine Hutchins of Dallas and Lisa Ann Daggett of Linden; his father, Lloyd Hutchins of Linden; two brothers, Ron Hutchins of Stuart and Steve Hutchins of Adel; two grandchildren, Hailey Marie Hutchins and Dylan Dwaine Hutchins, both of Dallas; and numerous friends.

Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart, Iowa.

The funeral service was held there at 10 a.m. Saturday. The burial will be held at a later date.

Arrangements were under the direction of Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart in Iowa.
