On Aug. 16, members of the Pettus Baptist Church hosted a Teachers Appreciation Luncheon for the PISD teachers and staff, preparing a meal of fajitas, rice, beans and desserts. Rev. David Silva welcomed the staff and assured them that the church was in full support of their efforts to help the children succeed.

The theme was “Dear Old Golden Rule Days.” The decorations included a one-room schoolhouse from the old days and baskets of apples on the tables. Michael Gleason performed a magic show, and door prizes were given out. One lady won the grand prize by guessing the number of buttons in a jar. School supplies were collected and given to both PISD and Runge school districts.
