Angelica Perez of Pettus and Zachary Louis Schaefer of Buda were united in marriage at 5 p.m. on May 1. Antonio “Tony” Perez, brother of the bride, officiated the double-ring ceremony.

The bride was given in marriage by her father, Domingo Perez. She wore an off-the-shoulder, diamond white, taffeta Alfred Angelo gown. The chapel length train was put into a pick-up bustle for the reception. She wore a headpiece embellished with small rhinestones, given by a close friend of the family, Jeannie Kesler. Her jewelry consisted of thin, gold hoop earrings and a cream, flower bracelet. She carried a bouquet of orange lilies, blue wax flowers and baby’s breath.

The mother of the bride wore a gold, knee length flare dress with a waist tie and ruffled embellishments at the V-neck to accent the skirt.

The outdoor ceremony was held in a grove of trees, embellished with baskets of greenery and white flowers, at the Perez Ranch in Mineral. The aisles were decorated with orange potted flowers. The bride walked down the aisle to “Just Breathe” by Pearl Jam.

The wedding reception was also held at the Perez Ranch. The tables were adorned with mason candles along with orange lilies, blue wax flowers and white hydrangeas. A barbecue dinner was prepared and served by Scores, and sangria and other drinks were served to the guests from the bar by Wally Rodriguez. Guests were treated to home-brewed beer made and bottled by the bride and groom and brought all the way from Pennsylvania. “Guyver Hair Homebrew, Celebration Sauce” and the date of the wedding was printed on the labels.

Music was provided by Ruben Montez and a large dance floor was available for dancing under the stars. The atmosphere was enhanced by additional mason jar candles hanging from the trees. Professional-grade fireworks, provided by the groom’s parents and fired off by the groom’s cousins, gave a 15-minute show to end the night.

The bride’s cake was a white, three-tiered, vanilla cake with pineapple layers and elite icing, decorated with pearl designs.

The groom’s cake was a German chocolate sheet cake, his favorite.

Friends and family attended from South Texas and Wisconsin.

The bride is the daughter of Domingo and Teresa Perez of Pettus. She graduated from Pettus High School in 2003 and attended Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, graduating in 2007 with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology. She is currently employed as a sales manager for Courtyard & Residence by Marriott of State College.

The groom is the son of Jay and Cathy Schaefer of Buda. He graduated from Jack C. Hays High School in 2002 and also attended Texas Lutheran University, graduating in 2006 with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry. He is currently employed with Penn State University as a Ph.D. candidate in the chemistry department.
