He was born May 27, 1932, in Houston to John and Jewell (Camaren) Bean. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Goliad, the Goliad Golf Club and the “Lunch Bunch.” He worked as a measurement tech for Texas Eastern, retiring after 40 years. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces. He enjoyed golfing, winning several championships at Beeville Country Club, dominoes, fishing, hunting and training bird dogs. Some of his trained dogs were sent as far as Tennessee.
Survivors include two daughters, Cindy (Bobby) Urban of Beeville and Sunni Bean of Goliad; two grandchildren, Kacey Bowman of MissionValley and Harley O’Neal of Goliad; three step-grandchildren, Drew and Tate Urban of College Station and Jason Urban; his longtime companion, Marilyn Bean of Mineral; and C.E. “Babe” (Joann) Markowsky of Mound Creek.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation was held Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home in Goliad. A memorial service was conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Jim Benson officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. John’s Lutheran Church.
