Celia F. Reyes, devoted wife, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, as well as gifted artist, was called home by the Lord on the 14th of September, 2010. Mrs. Reyes died at her home of 19 years after a courageous 7-month long treatment for lymphoma. Mrs. Reyes was 82 years of age and was a long time resident of Beeville.

Mrs. Reyes was born the second daughter of nine children to the late Francisca (Chapa) and the late Lorenzo Flores, Sr. of Berclair. In December 1946 she married Lucas Reyes of Berclair, and had three children, Hector, Alma, and Joel Lucas.

Mrs. Reyes was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Beeville, had served on its Parish Council, and had sung in the church choir for many years. She was also a member of the Texas A&M University Mothers Club for many years. She was an active member and former president of the Beeville Garden Club; a member of the Beeville Art Association and the Beeville Country Club for many years. She with her husband Lucas were honored by the South Texas Hereford Association during the Beeville Western Week celebration in 1982. Mrs. Reyes was known for her beautiful painted china and porcelain art pieces that decorated her home and which she gifted to family and friends.

Mrs. Reyes was a frequent student at Bee County College, now Coastal Bend College (CBC), and earned a Nursing Home Activity Director certificate, painting certificates, and took numerous porcelain art seminars from the Visual Arts Division of CBC. As a member of the Beeville Art Association, Mrs. Reyes was a tour volunteer at the Berclair Mansion and participated in the activities of the Corpus Christi Hi-Lights Porcelain Art Club.

Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years, Lucas Reyes; a son, Hector Reyes of Guerneville, CA; a daughter and son-in-law, Alma Reyes and Mike Fernandez of Houston; a son and daughter-in-law, Joel Lucas and Patricia Reyes of Red Oak; two grandsons, Lucas Miguel Fernandez and Carlos Antonio Reyes. In addition, she is survived by her sisters Francis Postel (Emilio) of San Antonio, Olga Vara of Beeville, Maria Martinez of Corpus Christi, Lidia Garcia (Jesse) of Beeville, and her brother Ernesto Flores Sr. of Beeville. She was blessed with numerous nephews, nieces and cousins who also survive her.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Lorenzo, Jr. and Raul and her sister, Estella.

Visitation was held on Friday September 17, 2010 from 1:00pm until 5:00pm at Treviño Funeral Home in Beeville. A holy rosary was recited on Friday at 7:30pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Beeville. Funeral mass was celebrated on Saturday at 10:00am September 18, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial followed at Beeville Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Lenchito Flores III, Joe Montez, Jesse Garza, Emilio Jr., Adolfo Villarreal and Robert Leal.

Honorary pallbearers were Ernesto Flores Sr., Emilio Postel, Jesse Garcia, Tony Maldonado, Lucas Miguel Fernandez and Carlos Antonio Reyes. The family would like to thank the management, nurses, and providers at Exclusive Home Health for their tireless care of Mrs. Reyes during the final months of her life.
