Mr. Gamez was born Oct. 10, 1956, in Beeville to Eloisa (Hawkins) and Jose G. Gamez. He was a truck driver by profession and a member of St. James Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Judy Gamez; a son, Joseph Gamez; a brother, David Gamez; and a grandson, Damian Hernandez.
Survivors include seven daughters, Erica Rivas of Richmond, Va., Monica Rivas and Danielle (Larry Foria) Gamez, both of Fort Worth, Crystal Dye, Victoria Gamez, Amanda Rose (Raul Casteneda) Gamez and Cindy Gamez, all of Beeville; six sons, Ivan (Tina Aleman) Rivas of Fort Worth, Christopher (Crystal Gonzales) Gamez, Victor Gamez and Steven Gamez, all of Beeville, Paul (Michelle) Bourjois of San Antonio and James (Lisa) Estrada of Los Angeles, Calif.; three sisters, Daisy (Michael) Weidel of Wheat Ridge, Colo., Della (Luciano) De La Garza and Brenda (Cesar) Huerta, both of Beeville; two brothers, Edward (Sofia) Gamez of Laredo and Ernest (Esmeralda) Gamez of Chicago, Ill.; 34 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Angelus Funeral Home, with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial followed in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.
Pallbearers were Edward Gamez, Victor Gamez, Christopher Gamez, Ramsey Gamez, Luciano De La Garza and William Galle.
Honorary pallbearers were Michael Weidel, Rocky Gamez and Ricky Rincon.
