Roy Dean Hinckley, 51, of Olathe, Kansas fought the good fight and finished his race on Sunday, September 26, 2010. Visitation was 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 30, 2010, at Antioch Church. Funeral services followed at 7:00 p.m. Burial in Pleasant Valley Cemetery was on Friday, October 1st, at 11:00 a.m.

Roy was born on September 5, 1959, in Charlotte, Michigan to Elam and Shirley Hinckley. Roy served in the United States Navy from 1976 to 1980. In 1979, while stationed in Texas, Roy married the love of his life, Brenda Fox. Two years later, they celebrated the birth of their daughter Amanda Hinckley Giarratano.

After giving his heart to the Lord in 1994, Roy dedicated the rest of his life to sharing the love of God with all he came in contact with. Roy’s passion was mission work, feeding, clothing and healing hurting people. Roy pastored a church in Gonzales, Texas for six years before moving to Kansas City.

In 2006, shortly after Roy and his wife moved to Kansas City, they welcomed the first of two grandchildren. There are not enough words to describe Roy’s love and passion he had for his grandchildren. Living by example, Roy taught all who knew him how to not only live the length of your life but the width as well.

Roy was preceded in death by his father Elam Hinckley. Survivors include wife Brenda Fox Hinckley, daughter and son-in-law Amanda and Nate Giarratano, two grandchildren Elam Douglas Giarratano and Eden Love Giarratano, all of Olathe, Kansas. Roy is also survived by his mother Shirley Hinckley, brothers Dan and Bruce Hinckley, sisters Kathy Aaron, Tina Kellogg and Sue Thornell, all of Michigan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Roy’s family.
