BALL (Be Active, Live Longer) met Friday, Oct. 1, at the First United Methodist Church for its monthly covered dish luncheon. October is definitely a festive month with its fall colors. Nyla Irwin and Jane Cecil decorated the tables beautifully and set the scene for a grand luncheon.

Norman and Ruth Damerau returned to visit, since their departure from Beeville to live in Willis, just north of Conroe and near Sam Houston National Forest. Norman gave an enlightened review of Professor Howard Mell Green’s government class which he attended at San Marcos. It was years earlier in this same classroom that Lyndon B. Johnson received inspiration to enter politics. Norman likes to sing barber shop style and treated everyone to a few songs.

Verma Ford was the winner of the door prize, a gift from Mary Crockett.

In November, friends from the nursing homes and assisted living group will join BALL for a Thanksgiving luncheon on Friday, Nov. 12. Anyone interested in participating in food preparation for the guests may call Shirley Kibler at 358-4744.
