Hope Rohr, 92, passed away October 12, 2010. Hope was born June 16, 1918 in Dallas, TX. Her mother, Mittie Rae Poole, died shortly after giving birth. She was adopted by Luke and Ethel Watson when she was 6 months old from the HOPE COTTAGE in Dallas. The care givers there had named her HOPE after the name of the cottage but also because they hoped she would make it. Hope lived her entire life in Weslaco. She worked for Doctors Ellis and Herron for many years, and she had also worked at Alamo Fruit & Vegetable in Alamo for many years. She was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church in Weslaco and had lived at the John Knox Retirement Home in Weslaco for the past 13 years.

Hope married Kirby C. Rohr on February 14, 1939, in Weslaco, and from this union came 3 children: Walter Kirby Rohr of Beeville, Jane (Rohr) LeMaster of Edinburg, and George Rohr of George West; 2 grandchildren, Travis Rohr and Crystal (Rohr) Baker; and 7 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her nieces and nephews, Robert Herring of Beeville, Suzanne Melcher, Louise Odem, Curtis Herring and Virginia Herring, all of Three Rivers, Hazel (Rohr) Manspieker and Anne (Rohr) Von Klock, both of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997.

She was a great mother to us kids, Walter, Jane & George…”SEE YOU LATER MOM”.
