She was born on Oct. 17, 1919 in DeWitt County to the late Ignatz and Josephine Ledwig Gwosdz. She was a homemaker and worked right along her husband on the farm and ranch on the Waer estate. She loved her family.
Mary is survived by her son, David (Janet) Waer of Schroeder; sister-in-law, Virginia (Walter) Ward of Colorado; grandchildren, Mary Jean (Pete) Valdez of Houston, Donna (Kevin) Davis of Cypress, Robert Waer, (Amy, and her children, Zachary and Jesse) of Fort Worth, Daniel (Amy) Waer of Woodsboro, and Ricky Waer of Schroeder; great-grandchildren, Joshua (Jannifer) Valdez, Jeremy Valdez, Jonathon Valdez, and Patricia Valdez, all of Houston; great-great grandchildren, Joshua Valdez Jr, and Jordynn Valdez. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Joseph Waer, son, Jospeh Lee Waer, daughter, Patricia Ann Waer Hardt, and brothers, Edward, Albert, Alfons, and Milton Gwosdz.
Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nove. 7 at 214 N. Market Street in Goliad. The rosary will immediately follow at 7 p.m. Funeral services are 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, at Goliad Immaculate Conception Church with Father Ralph Baidoo officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Hwy. 237 W. (Yorktown Hwy.).
Pallbearers are Robert Waer, Daniel Waer, Ricky Waer, Ben Parma, Jeremy Valdez, and Jonathon Valdez. Honorary pallbearers are Roland Storbeck, Steve Storbeck, Joshua Valdez, Joe Cavazos, Amy Waer, Pete, Mary Jean, Jannifer, Patricia Valdez, Joshua Valdez Jr., Jordynn Valdez, Kevin and Donna Davis.
