She was born on Nov. 11, 1920 in Goliad to the late Pablo B. and Elvira Perez Zapata.
Mary Jane is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou Z. Davis of Victoria; sister, Beatrice Rodriguez of Austin; brother, Tony (Tiva) Zapata of Victoria; five grandchildren, Elsa (Mark) Munoz, Elaine Harrington, Ellen Moreno, Elvie (Danny) Salinas and Paul (Dante) Flores; seven great-grandchildren, Ryan and Erin Munoz, Nicholas Moreno, Fredrick Harrington, Danielle, Larissa, and Haylie Salinas; 2 great-great grandchildren, Madelyn and Christian Munoz. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Bennie Zapata.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Grace Funeral Home. The rosary will follow at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic church with Father Gabriel Mensah officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Nicholas Moreno, Ryan Munoz, Fredrick Harrington, Orlando Mendez, Steven Zapata, and Andy Rodriguez. Honorary Pallbearers are Drs. Michael Bouthillette and Rakesh Kathpalia.
Mary Jane’s family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Texan East Nursing Home. She loved everyone there and they were her extended family; and to Dr. Rakesh Kathpalia for the great care given to Mary Jane.
