BEEVILLE- There is little evidence of fire at the front of the former Coca-Cola Bottling Co. building that sits just north of the Poesta Creek bridge on South Washington Street. Members of the Beeville Volunteer Fire Department had little trouble knocking down the flames after struggling to gain entrance to the building Monday evening. They had to cut through or break out doors to get to the burning items that had been stored in the warehouse portion. Assistant Fire Chief Bill Burris said the building is being treated as a crime scene while an investigation is conducted to determine how the fire started. “There was a lot of smoke,” Burris said, but the structure remains intact.
