The Goliad High School Tiger Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Jason Howard, will be honored with a grant by the Texas Jazz Educators Association at the Texas Music Educators Convention in San Antonio this February.

All the grant recipients will have their group photos displayed at the TJEA booth at this year’s TMEA Convention. The ensemble, in just its third year, has performed for functions around Goliad and Corpus Christi as well as performing for an evening for education fundraiser. This year will mark its second appearance at the Texas Association of School Boards Winter Conference in Corpus Christi.

The orchestra members are yearly contenders in the all-state jazz auditions.

The jazz ensemble will be performing in the Texas State Jazz Festival in February and the Texas A&M-Kingsville Jazz Festival in March.

The orchestra meets on Mondays from 4 to 6 p.m.
