ANDER – “Saints Alive! Living Generously” is the stewardship and mission emphasis for 2013 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Ander.

The four-week emphasis will include the telling and sharing of stories of generosity and of thanksgiving for all of God’s gifts.

The Rev. Sue Briner, bishop’s associate for the Southwestern Texas Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, will be the guest worship leader on Sunday, Feb. 10 as St. Peter’s begins this emphasis.

Briner will share information on how offerings and gifts given through the church are doing God’s work in the local community and regional area and throughout the United States and the world.

Briner joined the staff of the Southwestern Texas Synod as bishop’s associate in August of 2012. She previously served as senior pastor of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Summerville, S.C.

As bishop’s associate, she works with pastoral and congregational transitions, including retirements, call processes and interim pastors. She also works with planning teams for the synod assembly and other synodical events, with conflict management in congregations, and in other areas in conjunction with the bishop and director of evangelical mission. She also is connected to the synod’s mission teams and their working groups.

Prior to becoming an ELCA pastor, she held many leadership roles in the church and worked in the telecommunications industry for 15 years. She holds a bachelor of science degree from Duke University and a master of divinity degree from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary.
