Goliad teams begin action tonight in Little League baseball, softball tournaments

The District 27 Little League baseball and softball tournaments begin play today in Victoria and Kenedy with Goliad's 9- and 10-year-old teams facing Karnes City in first-round games.

In Victoria, Goliad will play Karnes City at 7 p.m. in a first-round game in the 9- and 10-year-old softball tournament at the City of Victoria Complex.

The Goliad-Karnes City winner will face Victoria Southwest at 7 p.m. Friday. The loser will face the Calhoun County-Ganado loser Friday at 7 p.m.

In Kenedy, Goliad will take on Karnes City at 6 p.m. in a first-round matchup in the 9- and 10-year-old baseball tournament.

The winner will advance to face Kenedy at 6 p.m. Friday while the loser will face the Victoria Northwest-Yorktown loser at 6 p.m. Saturday.

The District 27 11- and 12-year-old softball tournament will begin Saturday in Inez.

Goliad will play Industrial in an 8 p.m. first-round game Saturday. The winner will meet Karnes City at 8 p.m. Sunday while the loser will face either Edna, Kenedy or Calhoun County at 8 p.m. Monday.

The District 27 11- and 12-year-old baseball tournament will start Saturday at the City of Victoria Complex with Goliad meeting Victoria Southwest at 7 p.m.

The loser will face the Karnes City-Victoria Northwest loser at 7 p.m. Sunday.

All the tournaments are double-elimination.
