Tigers second at Port Aransas meet

PORT ARANSAS – The Goliad boys cross country team finished second and the girls placed fourth Saturday at the Port Aransas Invitational.

Goliad’s John Von Dohlen was third in 16 minutes, 37 seconds. Also leading the Tigers were Quentin Alkek (ninth, 17:17), Austen Guerrero (12th, 17:44), Jake Schneider (26th, 19:01), Rhett Davis (29th, 19:21) and Jakob Mata (49th, 21:26).

Corpus Christi Incar-nate Word won the team title. Port Aransas was third and Ingleside placed fourth.

Andrea De La Garza led the Goliad girls with a third-place finish in 12:43. Others pacing the Tigerettes were Danielle Garza (10th, 13:33), Marla Reyna (34th, 14:36), Hanna Henson (35th, 14:37) and Michala Janssen (40th, 14:49).

Incarnate Word won the girls title and was followed by Yoakum and Ingleside.

Goliad’s Anjelica Wil-son was 43rd in the junior varsity girls division.

In the eighth-grade girls race, Emily Klink-erman finished eighth, Caelen Johnson was 10th, Sarah Helmer placed 34th, Yolanda Trevino was 46th, Esmeralda Villalobos finished 50th and Allison Sanchez was 51st.

Goliad took fourth in the seventh-grade girls race behind Bella Livas (third), Jalyn Garcia (ninth), Jennifer Valdez (15th), Savannah Mozichek (23rd), Courtney Brown (24th), Kiana Flores (35th) and Brynna Galneau (60th).
