On Sunday, Oct. 27, the Goliad County 4-H Club’s Outdoor Learning kids went to Goose Island to learn all the basics about fishing.

The first thing we did was learn about safety rules about fishing. Then we learned how to cast with a fishing pole by going outside and casting at fake fish to see how skilled we were.

Then we went back inside to talk some more about fishing.

We played a fun, little trivia game to learn about the requirements for keeping fish that you catch. Then, finally, we got to fishing on the pier.

Out of all luck, I did not catch anything, but everyone else had some luck.

After a long time of fishing, we decided to pack up and go home. The day was filled with education and learning but, most important, we all had fun!
