The first contest of the meet was number sense and current events. The number sense team of Anthony Maldonado, Maggie Lyu, Alysann Mendoza, and Sandeep Bhakta took first place with Maldonado and Lyu splitting the honors of highest score.
In number sense, Maldonado captured first place and Mendoza finished fourth in the 12th-grade level. Lyu won first place in the 11th-grade level.
Current events had Viku Bhakta placing third as an individual and the team of Viku Bhakta, Dempsey Duprie, Jake Schneider and Kennedy Drozd taking fourth overall.
The calculator team of Mendoza, April Alex, Krista Noland and Hannah Kremling finished in first place. Mendoza took first place in the 12th- grade level. Alex captured first in the 10th-grade level. Mendoza and Alex placed first and second, respectively, as individuals with the highest tournament scores.
The mathematics team made up of Lyu, Maldonado, Mendoza and Kremling took second place. Lyu had the highest tournament score and took first place as an individual. Maldonado’s and Mendoza’s scores were good enough to pull the team up to second place.
Competing on the social studies team were Danielle Garza, Viku Bhakta, Emilio Vargas and Duprie. The team placed fourth.
Competing on the science team where Ryan Whitehead, Carolyn Swize, Toby Stewart, Lyu, Garza and Alex.
