GOLIAD COUNTY – A patched-up pothole was blamed on a major one-vehicle wreck that occurred Wednesday morning on U.S. Highway 183 south of Goliad.

The driver of a fertilizer truck, Louie Rojas, 38, of Goliad, was transported to a Victoria hospital after being ejected from the vehicle. The owner of the fertilizer company was at the scene of the wreck and said loose gravel on the repaired pothole caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

Texas Department of Transportation officials were called to the scene to clear the highway of fertilizer spilled in the wreck.

Rojas' condition was not available as of noon Wednesday.
