GOLIAD – A 44-year-old Goliad man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly shot a 20-year-old Goliad woman early Monday morning.

According to a Goliad County Sheriff's Office report, Tori Raquel Gutierrez was transported to DeTar Hospital Navarro in Victoria by Goliad EMS and was later transferred to University Hospital in San Antonio with a gunshot wound in her upper left shoulder.

Gutierrez was allegedly shot by Rodney Ryan Perry at a residence on Warrick Road. After being called to the Warrick Road residence, GCSO deputies found Perry at a residence on Pearl Street.

According to the GCSO, Perry told investigators he was at a barbecue at the Warrick Road residence by invitation of the property owner when three individuals arrived in a white vehicle. Perry said the three individuals had allegedly assaulted his son and he feared they were going to assault him.

Perry said he seized a .44-caliber magnum rifle from his vehicle and fired three shots in attempt to scare off the individuals. Perry said one of the shots struck Gutierrez.

There were no other injuries and, according to Perry, the three individuals fled the scene.

Judge Susan Moore set bond for Perry at $25,000 and he was later released on bond.
