GOLIAD – Goliad Mayor Anna Lopez Machacek said Monday that her ordering the locks being changed at City Hall on Saturday was due to the recent turnover of city officials.

“It’s protocol,” Machacek said. “It’s just a standard thing you do when you have people leave.”

Machacek said the locks were also changed at City Hall in February.

July saw Larry Zermeno resign as city administrator and Ashford Taylor resign as city attorney. Two city councilmen, Buddy Zavesky and Lionel Garcia, also handed in their resignations.

City council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

On Tuesday’s agenda is an item to consider and take possible action “regarding city administrator position to include mayor and city secretary absorb duties with compensation, repeal position or advertise open position.”

Also on the agenda was discussion and possible action to call a special election to fill the two vacant city council seats.
