Mr. Solis was born on Feb. 20, 1942, in Stockdale to Francisco and Maria Guajardo Solis. He was a retired automotive mechanic, master cabinet builder and a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Florencia G. Solis; a sister, Lydia Arambula; and two brothers, Ramon and Severiano “Shorty” Solis.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Escandon of Kenedy; two daughters, Charlene (Robert Galvan) Solis of Victoria and Christie (Jackie Guzman) Valdez of Kenedy; three sons, Joe Daniel (Melanie) Solis of Cibilo, Arturo (Debbie) Zavala of Germany and Joe (Nina) Escandon II of Kenedy; two sisters, Petra Zamora of Amarillo and Lorenza Gonzales of Richmond; and three brothers, Santiago “Jimmy” Solis of Kenedy, Domingo “Mingo” Solis of San Antonio and Rafael “Ralph” Solis of Kenedy; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A rosary was recited Thursday at 7 p.m. at Eckols Funeral Home chapel.
The funeral Mass was conducted at 11 o’clock Friday morning at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Norbert Hermann officiating.
Pallbearers were Joe Escandon II, Jordan Valdez, Joe Daniel Solis, Joe Escandon III, Christian Solis, Michael Solis, Jefferey Solis and John Guerrero.
