After playing 5 games in 6 days the Lions pitching finally gave out as they hosted San Antonio Homeschool on Monday and then traveled to Stockdale to finish out the week before taking a break. On Monday Jason Medina would get the start and did a good job as he left with a 5 to 3 lead after pitching 4 and 1/3 innings before giving way to Isaac Cruz. This is where the wheels would come off. Cruz would have to leave with a injury to his pitching hand after a play at the plate. Tristan Mejia would have to come in relief and struggle on the mound and then the hitting of the Wolverines would start finding the holes and the Lions defense would have some trouble and in the last 11 outs the Wolverines would score 18 runs. The final score would end up 20-5 even though the Lions had 10 hits they would only manage 5 runs. In Stockdale on Tuesday the Lions bats would be silent as Rolie Zepeda would get the start on the mound but only go 1 and 1/3 before giving way with tightness in his shoulder. Rhett Bell would come in relief and finish out the game as the Brahmas would win 9-0 as they would get 6 unearned runs off the Lions defense. With the two losses the Lions record now stands at 9-5 for the year heading into district play. They start with Port Aransas on Tuesday there and then play Pettus at home on Friday with the jv game starting at 5 with the varsity game following at 7. With the rest the Lions look to get back on track as they have played a tough non-district schedule to get ready for district.
