Severo A. Martinez, of Karnes City, died March 19, 2011 in San Antonio. He was born to the late Locario and Luisa Alcala Martinez on November 8, 1943 in Karnes County. He married Alicia L. Martinez on September 20, 1969 in Pawnee. He was a member of St. Cornelius Catholic Church and the Guadalupanas. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict as a Combat Engineer and Welder. He is survived by his wife; Alicia L. Martinez of Karnes City, his son; Fernando Martinez and wife Michelle Trevino of Karnes City; his sisters; Janie Serna of San Antonio and Benita Nunez of San Antonio, his brothers; Santiago Martinez of Houston and Martin Martinez of San Antonio; three grandchildren; one great grandchild; and two step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister; Simona Arredondo. A Rosary was recited Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Karnes City. A Mass was held Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City. Father Stanislaw Marciniak officiated. Interment followed in the Karnes City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Larry Leal, Danny Ochoa, Michael Martinez, Antonio Martinez, Lester Leal, George Louis Pena, Danny Pena, and Gable Tovar.
