Carlos Gutierrez, Sr. age 87, of Karnes City, TX died Friday April 22, 2011. He was born Oct. 27, 1923 in Floresville, TX to Francisco Gutierrez and Natalia Diaz Gutierrez. He was a retired Truck Driver. He was a member of St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City where he was the Director of the Spanish Choir, a Guadalapana, member of ACTS and very active in his church. He was also a member of the Benito Juarez Association; Karnes City Latin Cemetery Assoc.; Amigos Club; American Red Cross; and the American Ambulance Assoc.. Carlos married Consuelo Cardona on Sept. 20, 1943 at St. Cornelius Catholic Church. He is survived by his daughters Gloria Rodriguez and husband Dan of Floresville, Rose Delgado and husband Eloy of Karnes City, Lydia Lara and husband Juan of Victoria, TX, Sylvia Flores and husband Ramiro of San Antonio, Mary Ann Trevino and husband Robert of Runge, Mary Helen Gutierrez of Karnes City, Betty Cantu and husband Tony of San Antonio, Devora Gutierrez of Karnes City, and Carol Gutierrez of Karnes City; sons Jesse Gutierrez and wife Janie of San Antonio, Carlos Gutierrez Jr. and wife Irma of Goliad, and Richard Gutierrez and wife Velma of Round Rock, TX; sister Esther Ortiz of San Antonio; twenty three grandchildren; thirty one great grandchildren; and three great great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter Lupe Villarreal; sisters Aurora, Josefina, Elidia, and Lilia; brothers Francisco Jr., Adolfo, Rodolfo, and Manuel; and granddaughters Rosalinda Aguirre, and Annette Cantu. A rosary was recited 7:30 PM, Monday, Apr. 25, 2011 at Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Karnes City. A funeral mass was celebrated 10 AM, Tuesday, Apr. 26, 2011 at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City. Father Stanislaw Marciniak officiated.
