Leonard “Red” E. Weyel, 70, died at his home Sunday, June 12, 2011.

Mr. Weyel was born March 19, 1941, in San Antonio to Harry E. and Erna Lawhon Weyel. Before his retirement, he was shop foreman for many years at Vulcan Materials/Whites Mines in San Antonio. He had a love for antique cars.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine A. Kainer Weyel; a sister, Erna L. Mote; a brother, Douglas Ray Weyel; and his father, Harry E. Weyel Jr.

Survivors include his mother, Erna Lawhon Weyel of Boerne; three sons, Leonard (Danea Meeks) Weyel Jr., Weylin (Sara) Weyel and Westley (Andrea) Weyel; two daughters, Cathe (Ray) Skrobarcek and Wilda (Jose) Dominguez; 20 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sue Weyel of San Antonio and Patricia Weyel of Boerne; a brother-in-law, Harvey (Pat) Kainer of Runge; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A rosary was recited Wednesday, June 15, at Eckols Funeral Home in Kenedy at 7 p.m.

The funeral service was conducted at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City at 2 o’clock Thursday, June 16. Burial followed at the Hobson Catholic Cemetery.
