Justine A. Brenek passed away peacefully Sunday, July 10, 2011 in Karnes City. With loving family at her side, Justine went on to eternal life with the Lord at the age of 88.

Justine was born May 6, 1923 to Mike and Veronica Keller Janysek in Helena, Texas.

She married Felix Moczygemba on April 18, 1944. On September 14, 1952 she gave birth to a daughter, Patricia “Patty” Carol. On December 25, 1952 her husband Felix passed away.

Justine remarried on March 2, 1957 to Walter Brenek. After 24 loving years together, Walter passed away January 14, 1981.

Justine had a career in the Grocery business. She worked her way up to Grocery Manager at the Karnes Mercantile in Karnes City. After retiring, she worked at home as a babysitter. Many of the children grew from babies to toddlers to teenagers in her care; some of who are now married and have children of their own. They all called her what her own grandchildren called her; “NaNa”.

She was a devoted member of St. Cornelius Catholic Church. When she was not attending Church, she loved doing yard work or watching her beloved San Antonio Spurs basketball team on TV. She loved all sports, not just basketball; she enjoyed the football and baseball seasons as well.

Family will remember that NaNa always made the turkey and dressing with giblet gravy for Thanksgiving. Her buttermilk pies during the holidays were always a big hit and if you were special she would make one for your birthday! The sweetest thing you would ever eat; they were delicious!

Justine is preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, and her brother; Bennie Janysek.

She is survived by: daughter; Patty Toothman and husband Hank of Karnes City, granddaughters; Tricia Williams and husband Sean of Somerset and Michelle Janik of Las Vegas, grandson; Michael Janik of Corpus Christi, great grandchildren; Kellie and Tyler Williams, sisters; Domitillia Kyrish of San Antonio, Lucy Waclawczyk of San Antonio, Ruth Prasek of Karnes City, and Lillian Bujnoch and husband Melvin of Floresville, and sister-in-law; Valeria Janysek of Karnes City.
