Kenedy’s Summer Recreation Program is in its final weeks of sports camps for Kenedy’s youth. Recent camps have included softball, baseball, and football. The football camp was coached by Lin Havron and Robert Bell of Kenedy. They were assisted by former Kenedy athletes, Jake Havron and Rhett Bell. Other coaches in attendance were Stephen Hajovsky and Jerry Connell also of Kenedy. The coaches and their assistants worked with the elementary and middle school participants on basic skills and were able to provide individualized instruction.
The baseball camps were held last week with Coach Robert Bell assisted by Rhett Bell. Softball camps conclude on July 22 and July 23. The softball camps are being conducted by Rudy Diaz of Kenedy. He is being assisted by his daughter Jenna Diaz.
All of the camps are part of a summer program which has provided free sports camps for kids attending school within Kenedy ISD or whose parents pay taxes in the school district. This is the third year for the program which is sponsored by the City of Kenedy and 4-B Corporation.
