In both teams’ second scrimmage the Kenedy Lions traveled to Falls City on Thursday for their final tune up before the real season begins. Kenedy would look to rebound from their first scrimmage from the previous week when Stockdale came to Kenedy and shut out the Lions. The Lions would come out with more intensity against the Beavers and come away with a 3-2 advantage. In the controlled scrimmage the first team offense and defense would each get 15 plays. Both Kenedy and Falls City would score 1 touchdown each. In their second units 10 plays neither team would mount much in offense. The scrimmage would end with a live quarter. In last years live quarter Falls City would manhandle the Lions and win the quarter 28-0. This year though would be different as the Lions would win the quarter 14-7. They would gain 200 yards on offense and score on a 50 yard run and a 16 yard run. Falls City would score on a 60 yard pass play. The Lions would end the quarter with possession of the ball at the Beavers 20 yard line as time ran out. Deon Mayberry, Rolie Zepeda, and Charles Lobner would account for the Lions scores. Weston Hallmark would add both extra points in the live quarter. The defense did a good job getting to the ball as they would have a goal line stand in the controlled 15 plays and force a punt in the live quarter as the Beavers would only get two possessions during the 12 minute quarter. The Lions open with Karnes City in Kenedy and the Beavers open with Stockdale.
